Try-it script
Watching one real person use what you made teaches more than another week of guessing. Get a short script to read from, then write down what happened.
Free, no account. What you type stays in this browser and is never sent anywhere.
1Set it up
2Your script
Ten to fifteen minutes with one person is plenty. Read it out loud or keep it on your phone.
Before they start
- “I made this. I'm testing it, not you. You can't get this wrong.”
- “Please think out loud. If something is confusing, that's exactly what I need to hear.”
- “I'm going to stay quiet and watch. I'll answer questions at the end.”
The task
Name the one thing they should try, then stop talking.
While they try it
- Don't help, explain, or point. If they ask, say “What would you try?”
- Note every pause, back-tap, or “hmm”. Those are the useful parts.
- Let them finish or give up. Both tell you something.
Afterwards, ask
- Was there a moment you weren't sure what to do next? Where?
- Is there anything you expected to be there that wasn't?
- If you could change one thing, what would it be?
- Is there anything you'd like to ask me?
3Write down what happened
Right after, while it's fresh. Their words, not your summary of them.
